Eduplan uses a block format for General/AP/IB/Honors tutoring. This means that participating students purchase a block of 5, 10, or 30 hours of tutoring time as a prepaid package, then redeem the respective hours either by scheduling regular meeting times in advance with an instructor or by scheduling impromptu meetings as needed during the week, month, semester, or entire school year.
The block format has the advantage of giving both students and instructors sufficient time to assess problems, intervene appropriately, and achieve closure with covered concepts. This arrangement also enables the student to work consistently with one instructor who can become familiar with that student's particular abilities and needs.
We sell only a limited number of tutoring blocks each year so that there are always open time slots for students. And as their block hours expire, students have the option to renew hours before we offer the block to another student. Blocks can also be sold or traded among students as long as the existing block holder informs us of the change.
At present we offer block tutoring on a general basis or for AP, IB, or Honors courses in Literature, Algebra, Calculus, Physics, Statistics, Discrete Mathematics, Linear Algebra, and Computer Programming. To register, click on either the 5, 10, or 30-hour block descriptions below. We will then contact you to confirm your enrollment and, if desired at that time, set up a schedule for meeting with your instructor. Block tutoring is done on Friday & Saturday, or during the week as our schedule permits. Once enrolled, you will also have the option to with meet your instructor online or by telephone when circumstances make it difficult to meet in person. 5-hour Block Tutoring - Prepaid $300. Meet with instructor as needed. Sign up for 5 hours of prepaid tutoring to be redeemed as needed for help with homework, test prep, former test review, or just to catch up in a course. Subject areas include math, science and literature. Blocks are renewable.
5-hour AP/IB/Honors Tutoring - Prepaid $300. Meet with instructor as needed. Purchase a block of 5 hours of tutoring that you can use in a week, a month, or over the entire school year to boost your understanding and competence in your advanced placement, international baccalaureate, or honors classes, or spend them practicing for upcoming exams. Blocks are renewable.
10-hour AP/IB/Honors Tutoring} - Prepaid $550. Same as the 5-hour program above, only includes a block of 10 hours and a 10 percent hourly rate discount.
30-hour (Full Semester) AP/IB/Honors Tutoring - Prepaid $1,450. Meet with an instructor on a regular basis 2 hours per week for continuous course and homework support.
SAT Mathematics or Literature Subject Test - (by appointment, hourly rate applies, currently $75, minimum 8 hours, prepaid). For those students whose intended colleges require or recommend evidence of the applicant's advanced competency in math or literature. Please call our office to schedule an appointment.
Graduate Test Prep - We also offer prep classes for the GRE and GMAT by appointment only, at hourly rates, currently $75, minimum of 6 hours, prepaid. Please call our office to schedule an appointment.
